ローマン・ブリタンニア期の銀製ボウ・フィビュラの稀有な例。これは機能品で、元の鉄製ピンとスプリングを保持しており、時を経て失われがちな特徴です。ボウは実体があり、厚みも比較的あり、実用的なローマ設計を特徴づける格子状のジグザグ模様の簡素な刻み装飾が施されています。
外部の鉄製スプリングはそのまま残り、頭部にはコイル状に腐食した重い塊として見え、長い直線の鉄ピンはボウの下を走って保存されたキャッチ・プレートへと入り込みます。
ローマBritainの物質文化への真の窓口となるこのフィビュラは、耐久性・実用的設計・微妙な装飾的魅力を見事に組み合わせています。
