重要で有名な神話の場面を描く、古代ギリシャ・ヘレニズム期のブロンズ製の希少な印章 ― レダと白鳥
古典的なアーモンド形のベゼルには、ヘレニズム様式の洗練された明瞭なエロスの姿もはっきりと描かれている。
レダと白鳥は、ギリシア神話に基づく芸術の題材であり、白鳥の姿をしたゼウスが、アエトリアの王女であり後にスパルタ王妃となったレダを誘惑するという物語です。
後のギリシア神話によれば、レダはゼウスの子であるヘレネーとポリデュクセを産んだが、同時に夫ティンダレウス、スパルタ王の子であるカストルとクレイテメネストラを産んだ。
物語の多くの版によれば、ゼウスは白鳥の姿を取り、レダに対して性暴行を働いたとされる。
