STS-39 was an unclassified Department of Defense mission flown by the Space Shuttle Discovery, launching on April 28, 1991, and landing on May 6, 1991. Commanded by Michael L. Coats, the 7-member crew conducted infrared, chemical, and atmospheric research over 134 orbits before landing at the Kennedy Space Center.
STS-39 は、ディスカバリー宇宙船によって実施された国防総省の機密指定のないミッションで、1991年4月28日に打ち上げられ、1991年5月6日に着陸した。指揮はマイケル・L・コーツが取り、7名の乗組員は134周にわたり赤外線・化学・大気の研究を行い、ケネディ宇宙センターへ着陸した。
