A very ornate antique betel nut lime box, handcrafted from copper with finely worked tested silver mounts, dating to the late 19th century.

The oval domed lid is richly decorated with finely hand-engraved floral and scrolling motifs, complemented by delicate pierced openwork that reflects the exceptional craftsmanship of traditional Southeast Asian metalworkers. The tested silver mounts, borders and decorative elements contrast beautifully with the warm copper body, creating an elegant and refined appearance.

Traditionally used for storing lime paste, an essential component of the betel chewing tradition, the box consists of a matching lid and base. The interior retains traces of age and use consistent with its original function, while the exterior displays an attractive natural patina developed over time.

The silver has been professionally tested and confirmed. No visible maker’s or assay marks are present.
