中世にはラピスラズリは慎重に守られ、粉末を特別なオイルと混ぜることで当時非常に珍しかった青色を得るために磨かれていました。そのため「アジュール・ブルー（Azur-blau）」という特有の名がつき、過去からこの石を非常に珍しく特別な石としてきました。現代でもラピスラズリは尊重される治癒石として、また現代のインテリアにも非常に人気があります。
色の異なる鉱物が交互に現れ、独特の配色が生まれる夢のようなラピス・ラズリの標本。さらに正面の着色はほぼ全面的に青色で、石全体に走るきらめく黄鉄鉱（パイライト）により美しく輝きます。
この実に印象的な一品は、品質と完成度の高さを象徴します。
