画像のオブジェクトは、ローマ時代の鉄製の槍先を示しています。細身で葉形の尖頭と、木製の柄が取り付けられる円錐形の shaft は、この時代の軍用装備を特徴づける要素です。

ローマ軍では、目的に応じてさまざまな種類の槍が使われました。
Hasta：主に近接戦闘で用いられる重い突槍。
Lancea/Iaculum：補助兵や騎兵がよく用いた軽い投槍。
Pilum：長く細い鉄の柄を持つ典型的なローマ投槍で、盾を貫通させ使用不能にすることを目的としています。画像の槍先は、形状と柄への移行から見ると、最もHastaまたは大きめのLanceaに近いようです。
品物の状態
黒褐色でざらついた質感は、長い年月地中に埋まっていた鉄製遺物に見られる重い酸化（錆）を示しています。
