Description from the seller
Tested, Lubricated & Ready to Use — A Beautiful Vintage Marathon
Dear future buyer,
This beautiful vintage Marathon fountain pen has been carefully inspected, tested, and maintained. It has been lubricated with a fountain-pen-specific lubricant (silicone oil with amorphous silica) and is ready for its new owner to enjoy.
The pen features a beautiful flex gold nib and a vintage sack-filling system which was fully restored and is in amazingly good condition! I have tested the pen with ink to confirm that the filling and writing mechanism work properly and the nib writes but needs proper maintenance , having lost most of its iridium point missing in time and having slightly uneven fins, needing a tip “re-pointing”.
The pen is in beautiful condition for its age. It is clean, shiny, and free of visible cracks or significant scratches, with attractive vintage character and elegant gold-tone detailing.
According to Marathon catalog references, the nib is originally classified as Fine (F), but has been modified while attempting to even the shape so now it leans towards an M.
As a vintage-object collector myself, I take great care when handling and maintaining the pieces in my collection. I only offer items that I would be happy to own myself, and this pen has been carefully prepared so that it can be enjoyed immediately by its next owner.
Please Note:
* Sack-filling fountain pen.
* Compatible with any suitable fountain-pen ink.
* The pen has been tested with ink but will be shipped clean.
* Carefully packaged with protective materials for safe transportation.
* Shipping will include tracking and appropriate insurance.
A wonderful choice for a Marathon collector, vintage pen enthusiast, or anyone looking for the charm and character of a classic writing instrument.
Thank you, and happy treasure hunting!
