日本の茶道金工の名として最も崇敬される名前の、一際静かに威厳を感じさせる銅製の形。
この唐金（鋳 Bronze）製の器は日常的に茶道の竹筒を置く水注ぎ役を務める風の高台、ヒシャク・タテ（花器としても使えるエlegant bottle silhouette）といえる。長く細い首は、細かく鋳出された襟を飾る隆起した同心円模様の帯をまとい、胴は膨らんだ丸い底へと広がり、作品に安定感と静謐さを与える。深い琥珀色のpatinaは豊かで光を受けると熟成された銅が放つ柔らかな輝きを放つ。
作には中川浄益の署名が刻まれており、元の署名入り木箱（友箱）を伴っている。茶道美術の収集家にとっては provenance の印として高く評価される。
【作家プロフィール】
中川浄益は中川家の源流となる名で、十職の有職家庭である千家十職の一つ、千家十職の長の家系である。金工師としてこの十家の中で、茶道の筵具を長い歴史の中で手掛け、炉・風炉・水差し・蓋置きなどの洗練された金属器を作ってきた。元々は越後国の鎧工で、初代が千利休の要請で茶道具づくりを始めた。第三代は内在するサハリ合金技法を再発見し、その系統で最も優れた鋳造技術者として称えられる。十一代の浄益は2008年に逝去し、それ以降はその名が空席のままである。すなわち、この名を冠する作品は有限の作の集合を意味する。
