Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Spectacular honey amber pendant featuring a mantisfly fossil (Mantispidae) set in 925 sterling silver.
Description from the seller
### Material & Inclusions
Authentic natural Baltic amber with a warm honey-golden tone and excellent transparency, revealing a remarkably well-preserved MANTISFLY (likely family Mantispidae). The main insect displays impressive anatomical detail, including large rounded compound eyes, long slender antennae, an elongated segmented body, delicate wings, and long legs with noticeably enlarged, grasping forelegs characteristic of mantidflies.
The insect is surrounded by additional natural inclusions, including numerous tiny micro-insects or arthropod remains, fine plant debris, delicate organic filaments, and numerous small rounded bubbles. These secondary inclusions create considerable depth within the amber and give the specimen a particularly rich natural appearance.
### Craftsmanship & Presentation
Carefully polished into a smooth, organically shaped pendant with a glossy surface that allows light to pass through the amber and illuminate the fossil inclusions from multiple angles. The compact form emphasizes the main MANTISFLY while preserving the surrounding botanical material and microscopic inclusions.
The pendant is fitted with a 925 sterling silver bail, providing a secure and elegant mounting while keeping the focus on the natural fossilized contents.
### UV Testing & Fluorescence
Under ultraviolet light, the amber displays a strong blue fluorescence, clearly visible across the pendant. The natural internal structures and inclusions remain visible beneath the fluorescent surface.
### Pendant Dimensions
Approximately 18.6 × 12.1 × 6.8 mm, including the silver bail.
### Geological Origin
Age: approximately 35–50 million years
Epoch: Eocene
Region: Baltic Sea area — renowned for amber containing exceptionally preserved fossil insects and organic material.
### Condition & Authenticity
A unique natural amber specimen featuring a highly detailed MANTISFLY together with numerous smaller inclusions and organic debris. The pendant retains its natural internal characteristics, including flow structures, microscopic bubbles, and other features formed during the amber's formation and fossilization.
### Shipping & Packaging
* Ships securely worldwide with tracking and protective, eco-friendly packaging
* Estimated delivery: 5–8 business days internationally
