このコインは「Caravelle」として知られる記念デザインで、裏面に帆を上げて航行する3隻のカラベル船が描かれていることから、イタリアの探検精神の象徴とされています。表面には、豪華なルネサンス風の冠を被ったイタリアを象徴する女性の胸像が描かれ、イタリア各地域を表す紋章の冠に囲まれています。このコインは銀で鋳造され、20世紀のイタリア共和国を代表するコインのひとつです。
