DESCRIPTION
The AF Nikkor 85mm F1.8 D is Nikon's classic portrait lens, and the one many photographers reach for instead of its far more expensive F1.4 sibling. Its six-element design is sharp wide open and renders skin tones with a smooth, unfussy transition into the background. The D designation passes subject distance to the camera for more accurate flash and matrix metering, and the built-in sliding hood needs nothing extra to carry. On a DX body it becomes a 127mm equivalent — a longer, tighter portrait length.
