Description from the seller
Poland–Lithuania – Sigismund II Augustus – 1/2 Grosz 1547, Vilnius – NGC MS63 – Exceptional Mint State Silver
A highly attractive and exceptionally well-preserved 1547 silver 1/2 Grosz of Sigismund II Augustus, struck for the Grand Duchy of Lithuania at the Vilnius Mint.
Professionally authenticated and graded by NGC:
1547 POLAND 1/2G – LITHUANIA
NGC MS63
Certification No. 8590532-118
A particularly appealing example of this important 16th-century Lithuanian issue, preserved in a remarkably high Mint State MS63 grade.
The coin displays a very attractive, naturally bright silver appearance. Under daylight and when gently tilted, the surfaces become especially vivid, showing a soft, lively mint brilliance and a beautiful play of light across the devices.
The strike has an attractive soft medieval character, while the principal design elements remain clearly visible and well defined. The mounted knight on the obverse and the heraldic eagle on the reverse create a very strong visual impression, particularly when viewed from different angles.
The combination of 16th-century origin, strong preservation, natural silver surfaces and NGC MS63 certification makes this a particularly desirable piece for an advanced collection.
