Chudo Koro 鋳銅 香炉(ちゅうどう こうろ)|Zuiho 瑞峰(ずいほう)
This is an unused incense burner made of cast bronze, produced by Zuiho, a registered traditional craftsman of Takaoka copperware in Toyama Prefecture.
The body is finished with a patina tone decorated with gold leaf. The lid features a pierced design of bamboo leaf patterns, and the knob is designed in the shape of a bird.
It is created using traditional casting and chasing techniques passed down from the Edo period.
Artist Profile:
Born in Toyama Prefecture.
1974: Awarded the Chairman's Award at the 18th Takaoka Local Product Creation Promotion Exhibition.
1980: Awarded the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon (awarded 13 times thereafter).
1981: Awarded the Grand Prize at the 7th Takaoka Traditional Industry Comprehensive Exhibition.
1998: Commended for merits in the traditional craft industry.
2000: Commended by the Minister of International Trade and Industry for contributions to the promotion of the traditional craft industry.
