Description

An authentic and rare Chinese lead-green glazed pottery figurine depicting a dynamic acrobatic child standing on his head . Dating from the Song to Yuan Dynasty (10th–14th Century), this artifact is characteristic of the Northern Cizhou Kiln system (such as Hebi, Lushan, or Hunyuan kilns).

Subject & Form: The child is captured in a striking contortionist pose, supporting his weight upside down with concise carved drapery lines on the green garment and a warm yellow-glazed collar. The facial expression is vividly hand-rendered, with delicate painted eyes, eyebrows, and cinnabar red lips remaining on the unglazed clay face.

Glaze & Fabric: Features a rich low-temperature peacock-green glaze displaying natural luster, age-related micro-crackles, pinholes, and authentic soil/burial encrustations.

Base & Technique: The bottom shows a raw, coarse, unglazed flat sandy base displaying natural fire-stone red marks, kiln-sticking traces, and unglazed foot soles, typical of northern folk kilns of the period.

Documentation: Accompanied by the original physical Individual Sample Submission & Appraisal Report, which confirms its authenticity, material characteristics, and period classification.
