Description from the seller
Lagavulin 2006/2021 - The Distillers Edition 4/510, 43.0%, 700ml
The Distillers Edition 2021 features classic Islay notes of heavy peat. This is paired wonderfully with further maturation of the liquid in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks, bringing rich, full bodied sweetness to the fore.
On the nose there is the aforementioned medicinal peat, alongside tar, dark chocolate and red berries. Stewed and stoned fruits, almonds, bonfire smoke and toffee intermingle on the palate. More peat and smoke with a touch of red grape linger on the finish.
Colour: Deep reddish-amber with mahogany depth and a coppery glow, hinting at PX maturation.
Nose: Medicinal peat, tar and dark chocolate lead the nose, paired with red berries. Stewed and stone fruits unfold alongside almonds and bonfire smoke, while toffee and a hint of Pedro Ximénez sweetness weave through the aroma.
Palate: Opulent and full-bodied, the PX cask lends a lush sweetness to a dense peat and smoke core. On the palate, medicinal peat, tar and dark chocolate fuse with stewed and dried fruits, almonds and toffee; red grape notes linger as the peat reasserts, finishing long with smoke.
Finish: Long, smoky finish with intensified peat and a touch of red grape, lingering softly as sherry-sweet warmth from the Pedro Ximenez cask threads through the smoke.
