A finely crafted Japanese bronze incense burner by Suga Geppo (born 1935), a traditional metalwork artist from Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, renowned for his mastery of the lost-wax casting technique.
The rounded three-legged body is decorated in relief with floral and auspicious motifs, while the pierced cover features elegant openwork decoration. The surface displays a rich green and reddish-brown patination, emphasizing the sculptural quality of the casting. The inscription Senshū Bansei (千秋萬世) expresses the auspicious wish for enduring prosperity through countless generations.
Suga Geppo was born into a distinguished family of Takaoka metalworkers and inherited the traditional lost-wax casting techniques practiced by the Suga lineage. The work bears the artist’s cast seal on the base and is accompanied by its original signed wooden box, certificate and artist documentation.
