Mashikoの Kamoda窯の二代目陶芸家、カモダ太郎による印象的なぐい呑み（酒器）です。車輪を使わず手捏ねで成形され、リムは不規則で面取り状。陰影のある粘土の質感を際立たせ、スカルプチュアルな存在感を放っています。 Kamodaの筆致で手作業で塗られた釉薬の連続ラインが、濃い色の粘土胴体を縦に走り、内側は鉄分が散らばったクリーム色の釉が温かく現れています。結果として、やや小ぶりながらも力強く表現力豊かな一品で、Kamodaという名の自由で型にはまらない精神を見事に受け継いでいます。

カモダ 太郎（1963年生まれ）は、栃木県益子町を拠点とする陶芸家で、戦後日本の陶磁器界で最も影響力があり、型破りな人物の一人として知られる勝田正治（Shoji Kamoda, 1933-1983）の長男です。父の死後1983年より本格的に陶芸に取り組み、 Kamoda窯の二代目として受け継ぎました。はんすい製作ではなく主に手捏ねで成形し、自身で考案した釉薬を筆で塗布するスタイルを確立。父の精神である形式的な自由を継承しつつ、独自の作風を打ち出しています。1986年には東京・青山 Green Galleryで初の個展を開催し、その後は京王百貨店やホテルニューオータニ内の現代陶芸ギャラリー「Kanjitsuri」などで作品を発表しています。
