古代のインドネシア人は銀-銅合金を特に宝飾品に用い、場合によっては貨幣にも使いました。バリ島で最も古い金属製ジュエリーには、銅と銀の合金と「suwasa」（金と銅の混合物）が含まれていました。
古代の宝飾品はさまざまな金属で作られ、銀と銅を加えることは硬度と耐久性を高め、指輪・ネックレス・ヘアピンのようなアイテムをより扱いやすくするための一般的な方法でした。
