A hand-carved Japanese netsuke in the form of a double-lobed gourd (hyōtan), with a dragon's head and coiled body carved in relief across one lobe, while the reverse lobe remains smooth and unadorned, polished to a warm patina. The dragon is rendered with fine scale and mane detail, deep-set inset eyes, and confident, flowing linework typical of skilled netsuke carving.

Carved from boxwood (tsuge/黄楊), with two himotoshi (cord holes) present near the base, consistent with genuine use as a kimono sash accessory. A small carved signature is present near the himotoshi.
