「Byeri」という語は、祖先崇拝だけを指すのではなく、その適切な執行に必要な儀式全体と道具類をも指す。Byeri崇拝の像は、系統の祖先である男性か女性を表している。像は、遺骸が収められている長い樹皮の円筒の上に立っている。

Le terme "byeri" désigne non seulement le culte des ancètres, mais aussi l'ensemble du rituel et des objets nécessaires à  son bon déroulement. Les statuettes du culte Byeri représentent un ancètre, homme ou femme, de la lignée. Elles surmontent un long cylindre d'écorce dans lequel se trouvent les restes.
