珍しいクッリ文化のテラコッタ容器、ゼブ牛と菩提樹
Culture / Period: Indus Valley / Kulli Culture, c. 2500 BC
Dimensions & Weight: 130 × 130 mm (5.12 × 5.12 in) | 650 g
Condition: Intact, good archaeological condition with clear manganese black pigment and natural ancient patina.
Artistic & Historical Significance:
An exceptional wheel-turned terracotta jar decorated in the distinctive Kulli regional style (Balochistan). The vessel features a stylized Zebu Bull rendered with elongated horns, prominent hump, decorative body hatching, iconic concentric "solar" eyes, and linear neck-banding representing ceremonial tethering. The reverse shows a finely detailed Sacred Fig (Peepal tree) motif.
Provenance & Documentation:
Formerly in an old Professional British collection, acquired on the UK art market in the 1970s.
Authenticated, vetted, and sold by Pax Romana Auctions, London (Sale Date: 29-09-2019, Lot 401).
Vetted personally by Dr. Ivan Bonchev (PhD, Oxford).
Includes the original physical Certificate of Authenticity.
