Exceptional Liturgical Ewer/Altar Set (Pitcher and Basin) – late 20th century
Exceptional piece of European sacred art and metalwork from the turn of the century. This elegant ewer set combines an exceptional German-made pitcher with a dazzling Spanish basin, offering a perfect contrast between the technical sobriety of Central European design and the ornamental richness of the Spanish historicist Baroque.
-Origin:
*Pitcher: Germany (A. Wellner & Söhne, Aue, Saxony).
*Basin: Spain (Alcor / Alcor Spain).
-Style:
*Pitcher: Victorian Eclecticism / Stylized Neo-Baroque, with elegant, flowing lines that anticipate the refinement of Art Nouveau.
*Basin: Spanish Neo-Baroque Historicism with profuse relief ornamentation.
-Material: Alpaca silver-plated (German silver or Maillechort in France).
-Technique
*Pitcher: Molded, turned, and assembled by hand. Cast and chiseled legs and handle finial.
*Basin: Stamped, embossed, and ornately carved.

*Pitcher: Features a stylized, elliptical spout and an arched handle with a spherical top and a stylized lower support. It stands on four claw feet decorated with embossed acanthus leaves.
