Tamarisk of San Sebastián

Unique iron sculpture by Corné Nuham, entirely handcrafted and welded in the artist’s studio in the Basque Country, Spain.

This work belongs to a series inspired by the tamarisk trees of San Sebastián, particularly those growing in the gardens beside the City Hall, facing La Concha Bay.

Constantly exposed to the wind and sea air of the Cantabrian coast, these trees develop distinctive, irregular silhouettes. Their ability to bend, adapt and endure becomes the starting point for Nuham’s interpretation in iron.

The sculpture is built directly through welding, without moulds or casting. Visible weld beads, textures and traces of the construction process are deliberately preserved, becoming part of the surface and giving each tree its own character.

The natural oxidation and metallic patina create subtle variations in colour and texture, reinforcing the dialogue between industrial material and organic form.

Each sculpture in the series is individually created and therefore unique.

The sculpture is signed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
