カイアナイト（シアナイト、ディスセトン、サパリットとも呼ばれる）は、シリケートとゲルマネートの鉱物群に属する鉱物です。化学組成は Al2[O|SiO4] で、化学的にはアルミニウム・シリケートにあたります。構造的には孤立シリケートに属します。
カイアナイトは主に柱状から板状の結晶を形成し、表面にはガラスのような光沢がありますが、繊維状や粒状から塊状の鉱物集合体としても現れます。純粋な形では無色で透明です。しかし、格子欠陥や多結晶の形成による光の多重屈折のため白く見えることもあり、外来不純物によって淡青・青紫・緑がかった色味、あるいは茶色がかった色味を帯びることがあり、透明度はそれに伴い低下します。
