益子窯の二代目陶芸家、亀田太郎による印象的なぐい呑み。ろくろを使わず手づくりで仕上げられた杯は、不規則で多面状の縁を持ち、彫刻的な存在感を放ちます。 Kamoda（亀田）家の作風を象徴する筆致で手描きされた釉の線が、暗くざらつく土の表面を縦に走り、内側には鉄分を含んだ暖かなクリーム色の釉が斑点状に現れます。その小ささにもかかわらず強く表現力のある作品で、Kamoda の自由で型にはまらない精神を継承しつつ、確実に彼自身の作風を示しています。
【アーティスト プロフィール】
亀田太郎（1963年生）は栃木県・益子を拠点とする陶芸家で、戦後の日本陶芸界における最も影響力があり、型破りな人物の一人である亀田省治（1933-1983）の長男です。父の死を機に1983年から本格的に陶芸に取り組み、かもだ窯の二代目を継ぎました。主に手びねりで制作を行い、筆で塗る独自の釉薬を用いることで、父の精神である形式的な自由さを継承しつつ、彼自身の個性を際立たせた作風を築いています。1986年には東京・青山グリーンギャラリーで初の個展を開催し、その後も京王百貨店やホテルニューオータニの現代陶芸ギャラリー「かんじつり」などで作品を発表しています。
