Beautiful, complete, and authentic set of five hexagonal cast iron shop or balance weights dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. These robust weights were originally used on large balances and industrial weighing scales in shops and warehouses. What makes this set particularly attractive to collectors and enthusiasts of industrial antiques is that each weight is equipped with a collapsible metal carrying ring that fits neatly into the recess of the hexagonal body. The weights are in a beautiful, weathered vintage condition with a gorgeous, dark patina. The markings, weight indications, and historical initials (maker's marks/verification stamps) remain very sharp and clearly legible, stamped directly into the cast iron.
