Kinoto は自然石や鉱物の形成を思わせる器を、完全に手成形し窯焼きで仕上げる独自の陶芸技法「稀晶石（Kishoseki）」を開発したことで知られています。

Kinoto Kuniko（1976年滋賀県生まれ）は、「稀晶石（Kishoseki）」と名付けた独自の陶磁器カテゴリを創出した作家で、手成形・窯焼きの作品を自然石・鉱物の形成のように見せることで、自然と人工の境界をぼかします。
1995年に伝統的な登り窯の工房でキャリアを開始し、1998年にはニュージーランドで一年間の制作を行い、2001年に信楽窯業技術センターで研修を修了しました。現在も滋賀県日枝平（ひえだいら）にあるスタジオを拠点に制作を続けています。
彼女の技法には、焼成中にガラス釉の管を曲げる作業や、焼成前の柔らかい形へ粘土を付着させて「石化」させるような工程があり、 kilnの温度管理と仕上げの彫刻が彫塑の一体的なプロセスとして扱われます。
ロサンゼルスでのソロ展を機に国際的な評価が大きく高まり、言語を越えて来訪者と作品が対話する経験を得たことで、米国内外のコレクターからの関心が急速に高まりました。
