ローマ時代の北アフリカで生産されたいわゆる「赤釉器」の大型油灯。中央の円板には植物モチーフ、葉をつけた枝が装飾されています。ヤシの葉はローマ世界で勝利の象徴とされ、後にキリスト教の文脈では死に対する安堵と勝利の象徴となりました。肩部には中央円板を縁どる伝統的な“魚尾形”または“パルメット”の装飾が施されています。
プロヴェナンス：旧オランダの私蔵コレクション Mejns および アーレンの私蔵コレクション、1970年から1990年の間に取得；ドイツの Gorny & Mosch のオークションで2025年取得。
