exquisitely Japanese letter box decorated with a magnificent golden cranes motif.

Against the deep black lacquer ground, two large cranes spread their wings gracefully, surrounded by a flock of smaller cranes in flight. The shimmering gold and silver-toned decoration creates a beautiful contrast with the glossy black surface, giving the piece a refined and luxurious appearance.

In Japanese culture, the crane (tsuru) has long been regarded as a symbol of longevity, good fortune and happiness, making crane motifs especially cherished in traditional decorative arts.

The dynamic composition of numerous cranes flying across the surface gives this piece a particularly impressive visual presence. Fine details can be seen throughout the feathers and wings of the principal cranes.
