these pieces are crafted from high-purity tin, as indicated by the seal "Jun-Suzu" (Pure Tin) and "Kyo-Suzu Genzo" (Kyoto Tin Source/Make) on the base. Tin is highly prized in Japanese tea culture for its ability to purify water and enhance the flavor of tea.
