16世紀当時の南ドイツ地域での農民戦争に使われたスイスの農民の剣。
長さ51cm、ローゼット形の鍛冶印付き。
教会に対して立ち上がった農民たちにとって顕著な剣です。
今後500年間にわたり展示できるよう、丁寧に清掃・保存され、1525年ごろの生きた歴史の一部として展示されます。
いわゆる親指プレートは腰ベルトの掛け金として機能し、突く際に親指の力で圧力を高めるためのものです。親指プレートは両面が非常に手の込んだ、ホタテ貝の形をした作りです。
先端が斜めにカットされた、独特の刃の形。
この保存状態のままでは、あらゆる中世コレクションの絶対的なハイライトです。写真は説明の一部です。
