About Clelia

Clelia is an Italian contemporary artist whose thick, sculpted surfaces turn seascape and landscape into pure sensation. Working in layered impasto, she reduces shorelines, harbours and open water to their essentials: broad planes of colour, a distant horizon, a single gesture of light. Abstraction and minimalism meet here in the memory of the sea.

Her process is tactile and deliberate. She builds paint into ridges and crests, sets blocks of colour side by side, and drags the knife across the surface until foam seems to break from the canvas and reflections shimmer in stacked bands of sea-glass green, soft coral and deep blue. Whether she looks down on a turquoise tide washing over pale sand, or across a quiet bay dotted with distant sails, detail falls away and texture does the telling.

Clelia's canvases open a conversation between stillness and movement, between the place we see and the calm we carry with us. She turns the shoreline into rhythm and light into matter, inviting viewers to slow down, step closer, and lose themselves in the open horizon.
