Description

An original Imperial Japanese Military Wounded Soldier Badge (軍人傷痍記章 – Gunjin Shōi Kishō), Kōshō (公傷) type, dating from the Shōwa period, approximately 1938–1945.

This distinctive Japanese military badge was established in 1938 and was awarded in recognition of qualifying wounds, injuries or illnesses suffered by members of the Imperial Japanese military.

The badge features a striking red enamelled cross-shaped design, surrounded by decorative silver-coloured elements. At the centre is a finely detailed portrait of a historical Japanese warrior.

This example is the Kōshō (公傷) type, distinguished by its silver-coloured appearance. The reverse retains its original pin-back fitting and construction.

The badge is an attractive historical collectible for collectors of Imperial Japanese militaria, Japanese military decorations, World War II memorabilia and historical Japanese badges.
