金彩蒔絵の七神を金色であしらった、宝石色の漆塗りの茶入れ。
九室漆（きゅうしつ）技法による層塗りを用いた urushi 漆器で作られた夏向けの茶入れは、 spatula と筆を用いた難易度の高い多層塗りの工程を経ており、黒地の上に温かく半透明な赤を基調とする地を見せ、ボディの周囲には天照大神の七福神（恵比須、大黒天、毘沙門天、弁才天、福禄寿、寿老人、布袋和尚）が繊細な金蒔絵で配されている。光沢のある深みのある仕上げと細かな線描は、長年の茶道修行とともに、伝統的な漆技法を基盤とする中村の作風を反映している。
【作家プロフィール】
中村 惺通（1932年生）は石川県出身の漆芸作家で、十四歳の時から父から九室漆技法を学び始めた。続いて茶道の指導を高野僧正野（そうわ なかお）から受け、1980年代を通じて国民美術展で数多くの受賞作品を発表した。1987年には茶名「総境（そうきょう）」を賜り、1992年には茶道准教授として認められた。彼の作は、夏椀の茶入れ、香合など茶の部屋の器を中心に、真塗や加賀蒔絵といった伝統的蒔絵技法と、洗練された自然志向の感性を組み合わせている。
