Çınar Istanbul Pure Silk Turkish Prayer Rug (Mihrab Design)
Small pure silk Turkish prayer rug, signed and labeled Çınar Istanbul
This elegant piece features a traditional *mihrab* design, the symbolic niche indicating the direction of prayer, framed by two slender columns and rich Oriental floral ornamentation
The golden-brown central field is adorned with a stylized vertical motif evoking a mosque lamp or a bouquet, set against a background of turquoise and midnight blue
The wide borders are finely decorated with palmettes, flowers, scrolling foliage, and geometric patterns in shades of ivory, turquoise, ochre, brown, and deep blue
The original label reads: "Origin: Istanbul-Cinar," "Material: Pure-Silk," with the number 362770.
Woven by a craftswoman named Damia.
An Arabic inscription cartouche is woven into the bottom of the rug چينار استانبول
It is fitted with four rings on the reverse for wall mounting
