花を添えたタイの踊り子の大きなブロンズ像 – タイ – 52 cm – 1.825 kg - Bronze - 20th century

販売中のこの exceptional large bronze statue of a Thai dancer, presumably from Thailand or Southeast Asia.

The slender female figure is depicted in an elegant, slightly dynamic pose, holding small blossoms in both hands. The expressive hand positions recall the characteristic gestures of traditional Thai dance.

The clothing is particularly elaborate. The tight traditional garment is almost entirely adorned with fine floral and geometric ornaments. The diagonal sash across the torso and the wide belt are also elaborately crafted.

The statue stands on a large, round, multi-tiered pedestal with an encircling lotus or flower ornament.

The dark brown bronze surface shows a pronounced greenish patina, especially in the recesses, on the garments, on the hands, and on the pedestal, giving the figure a very decorative character.

The figure comes from an inherited collection of Asian art and decorative objects.

The statue is in a used condition with noticeable age- or wear-related surface changes. Present are green patina/oxidation traces, discolorations, rubbing, minor scratches, as well as occasional reddish paint residues or deposits.

In the detail photos there are also small irregularities or openings in the casting that can be seen. The pedestal is hollow on the underside and also shows clear patination as well as casting-related unevenness.

The existing patina was intentionally not removed.
