卵形の胴体、短い首、円形の開口部を縁取る茶色の網目模様のある磁器花瓶。白地。手描きの多色彩装飾は、茎に実ったザクロ（ zakuro ）を特徴とし、黄・橙・赤で葉の薄い緑を背景に正確に描かれている。ネガティブスペースの伝統に基づく対称でない構図。署名入り。署名入りの箱と共に届けられる。

九谷（石川県）絵付磁器を専門とする陶芸家。陶工の家に生まれ、九谷の三代目・瀬戸越吉義（Takegoshi Yoshiyuki）に師事。自然描写とネガティブスペースの技法に長けていることで知られる。彼の「野生のブドウ大皿」は日本伝統工芸展に選出され、皇室の御用達機関である日本宝鑑のコレクションにも作品が所蔵されている。

The hand-painted polychrome decoration depicts ripe, open pomegranates (zakuro) on their branch, rendered with precision in yellow, orange and red against light green foliage. Asymmetric composition in the tradition of negative space. Signed. Accompanied by its signed box.

Yamada Yoshiaki 山田義明
Ceramist specialising in hand-painted Kutani porcelain (Ishikawa Prefecture). Born into a family of potters, trained under master Takegoshi Yoshiyuki, third-generation Kutani. Recognised for his mastery of naturalistic drawing and negative space. His Wild Grape Design Large Plate was selected for the Japan Traditional Art Craft Exhibition. Works held in the collection of the Imperial Household Agency of Japan.
