A pleasingly proportioned brush washer of shallow, rounded form with gently thickened rim and short, neatly finished foot. The interior is centred on a medallion vividly painted with a phoenix in flight alongside a companion bird, rockwork and blossoming peony — a motif symbolising prosperity and harmonious union — all enclosed within double blue line borders.
