A matched pair of vases in the auspicious double-gourd form — tall flared neck above a bulbous mid-section, rising to a larger lower bulb and neatly finished foot. Painted in rich, vibrant Wucai enamels — emerald green, iron-red, royal blue, golden yellow and aubergine — with intricate, layered decoration: the neck bears scrolling flower sprays; the central bulb features precious antique objects and ceremonial vessels; the main body displays an ornate flower basket overflowing with peonies, chrysanthemums and seasonal blooms, all bound with flowing ribbons. Harmonious in palette, proportion and decoration, they make a striking and auspicious pair.
