1925年生まれのパリ生、ポーランド系の両親の一人息子。優秀な学業を修めた後、写真を撮るという思いが他に勝り、1955年から1985年までELLE誌の不可欠な写真家の一人となり、被写体の真の姿や癖、喜びといったものを語る写真を撮ることを抱くようになった…決してパパラッチの写真ではなく、常に被写体の同意を得た写真のみを撮る。）

Born in Paris in 1925, Henri Elwing was the only son of Polish parents. After completing his education with outstanding brilliancy, his desire to be a photographer outweighed everything and he became one of ELLE Magazine’s greatest photographers from 1955 to 1985, nurturing the ambition of taking photos which expressed a photographed person’s true self, their idiosyncrasies, their joys… never any paparazzi shots, only ever pictures his subjects agreed to.
