ターコイズはキリスト教の文脈で、主に天体の象徴と守護属性と結び付けられます。天空・聖霊・神の平和と結び付く、青緑色の意味合いと似た意味が与えられます。さらに中世においては、宗教的な物品や装飾品（十字架や聖遺物箱など）にも、治癒と守護の力があると信じられて用いられてきました。
