Mashikoの著名な窯元・窯元窯の二代目作家カモダ・タロによる印象的なぐい呑み。車輪を使わず手づくりで成形され、 irregular な端部を持つカップは、彫刻的な存在感を放つ。 カモダの筆致で手掛けられた釉薬の破線は、濃い質感の土身を縦断するように走り、器の内側には鉄分を含んだ暖かなクリーム色の釉が点在して現れる。 その結果、小ぶりでありながら力強く表現力のある作品となり、カモダという名の自由で独創的な精神を受け継いでいる。
【アーティスト・プロフィール】
カモダ・タロ（1963年生まれ）は栃木県益子町を拠点とする陶芸家で、戦後日本の陶磁を代表する、影響力があり反権威的だった小野寺・正治の息子である勝野正治の父・上久野守の息子でもある。タロは父の死去後1983年から本格的に陶芸を始め、最終的にはカモダ窯の二代目として継承した。主に手づくりで成形し、刷毛で自作の釉薬を塗布する手法を用い、父の自由な美意と精神を受け継ぎつつも、彼自身の個性的な作風を築いている。1986年には東京・青山グリーンギャラリーで初の個展を開き、それ以降も慶應百貨店やホテルニューオータニ内の現代陶芸ギャラリー・観地通りなどの会場で作品を発表してきた。
