Description
A fine Kamba beaded collar or breastplate from Kenya.

Objects of this type belong to the rich beadwork traditions of East Africa, where colour, rhythm and structure play an important role in personal adornment and visual identity. They were worn as striking body ornaments, combining decorative presence with a carefully built construction.

This example is especially appealing for its large circular form and its beautiful chromatic balance. The main field is composed of deep blue bead rows, bordered by pale grey to light violet beads, creating a strong and elegant contrast.

The collar is built in concentric rows, held together by vegetal or fibre elements. The composition has a strong graphic quality, with a central opening, radiating structure and small transverse supports that give the piece both flexibility and architectural clarity.

The surface shows age, wear and small irregularities consistent with use. These details give the object a strong ethnographic presence and enhance its visual authenticity.

A very attractive Kamba beaded collar, appreciated for its sculptural circular form, deep blue colour, rhythmic beadwork and strong decorative impact.

Condition
Good condition overall, with wear, small losses, abrasions, fibre wear, irregularities and age-related marks consistent with use.
Some old ties and structural elements visible.
Please refer to the photographs.

Included
The beaded collar only.
The display stand visible in the photographs is not included.
