如意輪観音碑 1752年建立 - Granite - Japan - Mid Edo period

愛らしい江戸中期の石造の石仏碑で、慈悲の菩薩観音の秘法の一つ、如意輪観音を描く。

観音像は浮彫りで刻まれ、特徴的な思惟の姿勢で座し、頭を挙げられた手に優しく傾けることで、静かで深い冥想的な趣を与えています。

時とともに風化した石表面には美しい自然発生の苔が自然に蓄積し、緑の色合いを加え、碑の風格と本物らしさをさらに高めています。

如意輪観音は、願成就の宝珠（ cintāmaṇi）と法輪（ dharmacakra）を意味する名称にちなんで名づけられています。像の横には、願速圓成という仏教の銘文が添えられており、祈りや誓願が速やかに成就しますよう願う表現です。この銘文は、願いの成就と祈祷に伝統的に結びつく観音の化身である如意輪観音には特に適しています。

碑には宝暦二年（1752）に相当する年月日付きの銘文が刻まれており、中頃の江戸時代に確実に位置づけられます。

Stone images such as this were erected as devotional monuments at temples, along pilgrimage routes, beside roads and within village communities. Exposed to the elements for generations, their weathered surfaces have become an integral part of their character. s.
