Roland Dörfler (1926–2010) - Etching

Roland Dörfler (1926–2010)

Etching from 1966.
Hand-signed and dated.
On handmade paper, 43.9 x 62 cm.

Post-war figurative expressionism and New Figuration from the second half of the 20th century... Gaunt, somber, and ghostly figures. Dörfler does not seek the aesthetic beauty of the body, but rather aims to capture the vulnerability and existential limitations of the human being in the face of anguish and desolation.
