Turquoise Meridian is a unique sculptural abstract painting created by Inès Rouissi in 2021. The composition unfolds through an intense chromatic field of turquoise, aqua, mineral green and deep ocean blue, crossed by raised golden lines that resemble a luminous meridian travelling through water and matter.

The artwork combines the visual purity of contemporary minimalism with the physical richness of three-dimensional relief. A large turquoise expanse dominates the composition before gradually deepening into a more intense blue. Across this chromatic transition, golden pathways branch, intersect and reconnect, creating the impression of an invisible current or precious geological formation.

The title Turquoise Meridian evokes an imaginary line connecting light, energy and the natural world. The golden relief becomes a symbolic passage: a route toward success, renewal and positive transformation moving through the calm intensity of turquoise.

MULTILAYER SCULPTURAL TECHNIQUE

The work was entirely created by hand through the successive application of acrylic paint, resin, relief material and artistic gold pigments.

Each layer contributes to the final depth of the composition. The raised golden details emerge physically from the surface, producing delicate shadows and reflections that change according to the direction of light and the viewer’s position.

Natural or architectural lighting activates the relief differently throughout the day. From the front, the composition appears calm and balanced. From an angled viewpoint, its sculptural texture becomes more visible and the gold reveals a richer, more luminous presence.

This handmade multilayer process makes the artwork impossible to reproduce identically. Turquoise Meridian is not a print, reproduction or edition. It is a unique original artwork, created entirely by hand.

COLOUR AND SYMBOLISM

Turquoise is traditionally associated with clarity, protection, renewal and emotional balance. Deep blue introduces stability and contemplation, while gold evokes light, achievement, abundance and positive energy.

Inès Rouissi is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist whose work explores abstraction, colour, material transformation and sculptural depth.

Her compositions are developed through a direct relationship with matter. Acrylic, pigments, resin and relief structures are layered by hand to create surfaces that react to light and change according to the viewing angle.

Rather than treating the canvas as a flat image, Rouissi approaches it as a physical space in which colour, texture and movement interact. Each artwork possesses its own handmade structure and therefore remains unique and unreproducible.

Her work is represented internationally by Abstract Art Gallery, Riga.

The artwork is hand-signed “R. Ines” on the lower-right front.

The reverse bears the handwritten title, artist’s name, medium, year, dimensions and unique artwork identifier. It also carries the artist’s poetic inscription:

The artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Abstract Art Gallery. Its unique identifier, AAG-IR-TM-2021-001, corresponds to the documentation recorded on the reverse and on the certificate.

PRESENTATION

The canvas is already mounted on its original professional hardwood stretcher, 3 cm deep. The painted edges allow the artwork to be displayed immediately without an additional decorative frame.
