Description from the seller
Description
A fine original Japanese Order of the Sacred Treasure, 7th Class (勲七等瑞宝章), complete with its original ribbon, matching lapel badge and original presentation case.
This is an attractive example of the traditional Japanese Imperial decoration system and represents the 7th Class of the Order of the Sacred Treasure (瑞宝章 / Zuihōshō).
The Order of the Sacred Treasure was established in 1888 and was awarded for long and meritorious service to the state and public service. The 7th Class belonged to the former eight-class system and was abolished in 2003. The 7th Class decoration was characterized by an eight-pointed silver design with gilt elements, representing the sacred mirror and jewels.
Contents of the lot
・Original Order of the Sacred Treasure, 7th Class
・Original silk ribbon
・Matching lapel badge / ribbon rosette
・Original black lacquered presentation case
・Original inscription 「勲七等瑞宝章」 on the lid
The original presentation case and matching lapel badge significantly enhance the collector appeal of this set. Cased examples of Japanese decorations are particularly attractive to collectors because the original case preserves the historical presentation of the award. Catawiki itself recommends clearly mentioning original packaging and completeness when describing militaria and historical memorabilia.
