商品説明
高橋敬典(高橋敬典, 1920–2009)は、日本で最も著名な鋳鉄の茶釜メーカーの一人であり、1996年には「重要無形文化財保持者(茶道用の釜・鉄鍋)」として Living National Treasure の認定を受けています。
これは彼の作品の中でも卓越した例であり、名称を「亀甲地板釜(Kikko Ji-ita Gama)」と呼ぶ鉄製茶釜です。意味は「亀甲模様の浮彫釜」です。
本体全体が亀甲(六角形、亀甲模様)の浮彫で精密に彫刻され、その六角セルに鶴の意匠が組み込まれており、槌打ちの技法や意匠の組み合わせとしては、敬典本人の作品の中でも珍しく高度に洗練された構図です。
釜には本体に署名(mei)が刻まれており、同氏の最も優れた、かつ労力を要する作品の一つとされています。
元箱(tomo bako)と共に元の署名入り木箱が付属しており、真正性と来歴を更に裏付けています。
昭和時代の作品で、長年にわたり茶道で実使用されてきた実例です。

外装は非常に清潔で良好に保存されており、亀甲浮彫と鶴の意匠の細部がはっきりと見て取れます。
内部には経年相応の錆が見られますが、茶道用に長年使用された鋳鉄製釜としては普通で妥当な状態です。
元の署名入り木箱(tomo bako)も付属します。

高橋敬典(高橋敬典, 1920–2009)は山形県山形市道町鋳造区域で生まれました。山形いもの(山形鋳物)の歴史ある中心地であり、岩手の南部鉄器とは全く別の伝統です。
著名な釜師・長野哲志の下で修行し、1951年に最初の日本伝統工芸展(日展)に入選。その後、日本伝統工芸展で度々入賞を果たしました。
1961年には昭和天皇に、1979年には当時の皇太子・明仁(後の天皇平成天皇)に釜を献じ、日本の山形鋳物の認知度を高めました。
敬典は型の製作から仕上げまで全工程を自ら行うことでも知られ、型に直接手作業で模様を押し付ける独特の「懲り押し(ヘラ押し)」技法を用い、表面の質感を洗練させ、控えめで優雅なモチーフを生み出しました。
1996年、日本政府により茶道用の釜(chanoyu-gama)として重要無形文化財保持者に認定され、日本の工芸家にとって最高クラスの栄誉の一つとなりました。
