Rare Vintage Battery-Operated Rabbits & Carriage – Made in Japan – Complete with Butterfly
A charming and increasingly rare vintage Japanese battery-operated toy, featuring a mother rabbit with her baby in a colourful carriage.
The toy is fully functional and all known functions work correctly. When operated, the baby rabbit cries and appears to eat the carrot, while the mother rabbit’s head turns from side to side.
The carriage also includes the original butterfly, which is an important part of the set and an accessory that is often missing from surviving examples.
The toy comes with its original illustrated box, featuring attractive vintage artwork of the Rabbits & Carriage.
The toy and box show visible signs of age and use, including general wear, small marks and some age-related darkening/discolouration.
A particularly appealing example for collectors of vintage Japanese battery-operated toys, especially due to its working mechanism, original box and the presence of the butterfly accessory, which is frequently missing.

The corners of the box are reinforced.

I have been collecting for a long time, and now it is time to part with my collection.

Over the course of the autumn and winter, around 40 Japanese character toys from the 1950s and 60s will be put up for sale.
