アンティークの骨製ターン刻みワックス封蝋印とモノグラム・マトリクス(おおよそ19世紀半ば頃)
Period/Date: Mid-19th Century (Circa 1850–1880)
Origin: European (likely British or French)
Material/Composition: Turned bone (carved and polished organic material) with a custom matrix face featuring an engraved and colored monogram cipher.
Motif & Design: Elegantly crafted in a classical turned-column spindle form, reminiscent of vintage chess pieces (specifically a rook or pawn profile), featuring symmetrical horizontal ribbed turning details along the central bulbous body and a tapered finial top. The flat base matrix is intricately hand-carved in relief with a stylized, flowing interlocking cursive monogram (likely initials such as "CB" or "GC"), designed for personalization of correspondence and sealing official documents with sealing wax.
Condition: Very good antique condition. The turned bone displays a rich, creamy, natural patina consistent with age and careful handling, along with minor surface wear and natural grain lines characteristic of authentic antique bone. The engraving on the matrix remains crisp and clear, producing a sharp, clean impression in wax,
A wonderful and highly collectible desk accessory, perfect for enthusiasts of antique stationery, sigillography, and Victorian writing artifacts.
